Who is Essential Foods?
Essential Foods was born in 2011 when American Businessman Terry told company founder Moses about an emergency food product which had a 25-year shelf life, was cooked by just adding water and which tasted great. With Terry’s help, Moses visited the American manufacturing company and negotiated acquiring the Pacific region rights to sell this product. Moses also brought on board Robert to help with website development and marketing. An Australian subsidiary was added in 2012 to make this product available in both New Zealand and Australia.
“I grew up with parents who stored wheat in sealed cans just to be ready for a rainy day. The only problem with that was when we opened the cans years later, not only were there weevils but also I had no idea what to do with raw wheat. You could grind it into flour for bread and porridge but that was about all I could think of. When I heard about the Wise product which was chef-prepared freeze-dried gourmet meals which you could store for 25 years and which you then cooked by just adding water, a light-bulb went off in my head. I thought every Australian and New Zealander who wants to be prepared for natural disasters should have some of this. We’re delighted to be able to sell this product in New Zealand and Australia,”
